More than 30 builders from across India will take part in a major property exhibition in Bahrain later this week. The three-day event, Homes of India, is aimed at non-resident Indians (NRIs) living in the Gulf.
Indian Ambassador Balkrishna Shetty will open the exhibition at 10 am on Thursday, at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
It aims to develop awareness among the large number of NRIs in the region about the investment potential of the Indian real estate sector, said organiser G K Nair, managing director of International Trading Company and AGT Publicity & Advertising.
Builders and developers, architects, banks and financial institutions, interior designers, legal advisors from India will be among those taking part.
More than 30 builders from India are participating and will promote luxurious and 'semi-luxurious' apartments and villa projects in the Indian cities of Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kochi , Jaipur and Pune.
Legal advisers specialising in property-related matters will assist visitors on legal concerns and builders are expected to bring original documents and clearances from government bodies to diminish any doubts investors may have, said Nair.
He added that 15,000 NRIs were expected to visit the exhibition and many would have pre-approved loans so they could sign up for properties at the event.
'The Indian property market is booming, with the value doubling in two to three years,' said another organiser Michael Vasanth, chairman of Studioline Conventions in India.
'We therefore invite all NRIs in Bahrain to visit the exhibition and buy properties either for their housing needs or for investment purposes.'
Co-organiser T M Haridasan said all major builders from India would take part.
'This is the first time an exclusive India property exhibition is being held in Bahrain,' he added.
Financial institutions and banks such as ICICI, State Bank of India, HDFC and UTI will also take part in the exhibition and help buyers with their financial requirements.
