Features to Check Out While Going Out to Buy Car Stereos

By: Muna wa Wanjiru

Car Stereos are important for all ages. However, there are a lot of features and benefits to check out while going out to purchase Car Stereos.

First and foremost to be clear in your mind is to focus on the kind of music you are going to be listening to.

It is better to go in for a CD deck with a built in pre amp if you are going to be using your old speakers. This will provide a powerful effect. Alternately you could even upgrade your old factory speakers by going in for a new set of speakers.

Speakers with an RMS of 50 W should do as most of the decks have 50W/channel of power. This in itself will power your speakers.

You must also keep the budget in mind while you purchase Car Stereos. There are a few things which are just superficial and can be avoided like the animations, screen savers, etc. An LCD display where you can view the track numbers and names will do. This will save you some money.

There are the CD decks which have a three band equalizer on which you can customize the sound to shape and also change the music style. You can do this by adjusting the bass, treble levels and middle.

It will be a sensible decision on your part to go in for a CD player which is Mp3 readable. You can just burn any number of songs from your computer and play it on your system. You can even choose a collection of songs you want.

While you buy Car Stereos, make sure you get a complete component set. This set should contain tweeters for the front and multi-element speakers for the back. Doing this will save you a lot of money than if you buy them separately.

You can go in for a bass sub woofer for more bass. For more bass in the system, a basic sub woofer would do perfect. For this, an amplifier would be needed.

The class D (mono-channel) amplifier is designed only for a sub woofer to be powered. Class D amplifiers are more economical. All their power goes into one channel only. Thus, two channels do not have to be bridged together.

An amplifier having an RMS power equal to or little less than the RMS of the sub woofer would suffice. RMS is nothing but the power which the unit can continuously handle.

If two woofers are present, then you must ensure that the amp is capable of giving the required power to both. Connecting both of them in a parallel circuit may have to be done to get the best results.

You need not worry much if your amplifier's maximum RMS power is equal to or more then the sub woofer's RMS power. Alternately, if the RMS power of the amplifier is more than that of the sub woofer you must take care not to blast your music as this may result in blowing up of your woofer.

A lot of information is available on the internet which you can go through before taking a decision on Car Stereos.
