As any eagle-eyed motorist will no doubt have noticed, personalised number plates have been spotted more often in recent years than ever before, and that's due in part to the recent swarm of celebrity endorsements.
Take British boxing supreme Amir Khan for example, who has proudly displayed his own personalised number plates on his car. BOX 111G is surely the ultimate number plate for Britain's boxing prodigy, and Amir couldn't be more pleased with it. "It just finishes it off," says Amir. "Having a nice plate on your car instead of a normal one makes a big difference. It gives a different look to any car."
Naturally, Amir isn't the only celebrity to be caught up in the wave of personalised number plates enthusiasm. Legendary television presenter Chris Tarrant has CHU 8B on his very own set of personalised number plates, symbolising his love of chub fishing. Popular magician Paul Daniels has also realised the value behind the plates, and has MAG 1C displayed proudly on his Bentley.
Even Hollywood superstar Vinnie Jones is a fan of personalised registrations and his whole family have their very own cherished plates. Vinnie, who owns 100 VJ, said: "I think number plates are just brilliant". Television DIY expert Tommy Walsh was visibly delighted with his MRD 1Y registration: "I've always been interested in number plates, especially the quirky ones."
Celebrity hairdresser Nicky Clarke remarked: "The registration looks fantastic. I can't wait to put it on my new car," when presented with his ultimate registration - H41 RDO. Legendary crooner Engelbert Humperdinck reacted with similar glee to his registration, EH 1: "When I saw my new number plates, I was elated!"
With such a range of glowing celebrity endorsements, everyone is starting to see the fascination behind personalised number plates, and with many plates available for under one hundred pounds, how can you justify not taking the splash yourself?
