Etoo Defends Rijkaards Work

By: Stephen Lars

Samuel Eto'o defended the work of Barcelona's coach, Frank Rijkaard, "with who", said Samuel, "we have earned all and we will win it again", and qualified as "lack of respect" the fact there are talks about not continuing his contract for the remaining half of the season.

Eto'o recalled that before the arrival of the Dutch trainer "the BarÃ?a had been a long time without winning" and does not understand how now his work is questioned and even are thinking about seeking a replacement.

Eto'o who will be part of the Champions League game against the Celtic after concluding his participation in the African Cup, denied the statements made that he was the team's savior and recalled he needed the aid of his teammates. "I only try to do my work in the better way, but I cannot score goals without the aid of the team. I need my companions the same as they need me", indicated Eto'o.

The Barcelona's forward insisted that right now the unique thing about the team is to win; he did not want to mention a thought regarding the nonexistent penalty that allowed the red-blue team to win over Zaragoza (1-2) last Saturday. "We have not pushed the referees. They play their game and they can be mistaken at times, like a player is mistaken when scores a goal in his own net. If the BarÃ?a and the Real Madrid complain to the referees, will the other teams have something to say? I believe these two teams should be the least to complain".

The player returned from Ghana with a left leg contraction but he said he felt a bit better and arranged to play in Glasgow if the coach considers it to be a good idea.

The Cameroonian forward has not played in La Romareda for over two seasons since a group of Zaragoza's fans insulted him with racist shouts and he threatened to leave the field. Eto'o recalled nevertheless, that if last year he did not play any of the games that his team disputed was due to his injuries.

About his injuries and his controversial delay after playing the end of the African Cup, the forward assured that the club was reported in every moment of his inconveniences and also that he would return after the due time. When he was questioned on the reasons of his delay, Eto'o visibly angry responded with another question. "Why you don't ask me why I was a week late than the others", commented.
