Instructions For Mattress Care

By: rsbombard
The mattress will provide you with maximum comfort and in return you won't care for its maintenance. This isn't fair. Proper maintenance of mattress is required to make better use of it for a longer period. Mattress care involves regular dusting, vacuuming twice or thrice a week and cleaning after certain intervals. Follow each of the maintenance procedures to give your mattress the best care.

Keep the mattress dry

The mattress should remain moist-free. But when placed on your bed, it will definitely come in contact with moisture. You will sleep on it and natural dust will also gather all around. And both are enough to spoil the mattress. The best way to keep the mattress dry is natural sunlight.

No one's asking you to take the mattress out of the bed and place in air and under the rays of sun. This won't be feasible but at regular intervals, say once a week or once a fortnight you can easily carry out this process in the dry season and summers. The benefits you will gain from this natural cleaning treatment are immense.

Sunlight kills many types of germs. As you cannot soak the whole mattress in water and detergent, you need some alternative to protect the mattress. Sunlight is the best medium.

Regular care is must

As apart of regular care, vacuuming is prior. One way to inhibit dust to accumulate on your mattress is by using a pad on top of it. If you have little children in the household then the padding cover protects the mattress a lot from getting untidy.

Some simple rules are behind successful results. In mattress maintenance too this is absolutely applicable. You've often complaint that you don't have enough time to do all this. But don't you have at least a couple of minutes to turn the mattress upside down on the bed. Every time you turn the mattress, it gets a proper breathing space and the scope for gathering of dust is also reduced. Similarly mattresses shouldn't be allowed to stand or lie in a bent position. The coils are disturbed and the longevity is lessened.

Washing and cleaning

A mattress cannot be really washed. But you can use slight water in some parts such as a spot. The best way to do it is by using a water-vinegar solution where water is 2/3rd and the rest is distilled vinegar. The spot has to be gently wiped out with the spray of this solution. But the final touch of cleaning will be again with the natural sunlight. Hence drying after cleaning with water is compulsory. Don't ignore it either.
