Redesign Room by Teens Themselves

By: Realstorm

In some ways, a baby's room always decorates by parents. With the growth of their age, many interests they have had have been changed, so teenagers begin to decorate their bedroom by themselves.

There is some good news: Your child is probably old enough now to do a lot of the work him or herself. Someone said that teenagers are all about independence, control and being cool. Allowing your child to redesign his or her room not only lets them express their independence and look cool in their own space, it can be a great way to teach important budgeting and home improvement skills.

Here are some steps help them to redesign their room.

First, you can be generous, and give your teen some money to spend in the room. Or you can use other methods to help them in financial. Either way, make sure she understands she must accomplish her redesign with the money she has, just like in the adult world where going over budget would have serious consequences.

Then, select a theme for the room together with your teens. Most teens have definite opinions about what they like - and dislike. So chances are your teen will have an idea of a theme he would like to pursue. Encourage him to choose a theme that will grow with him, or that he will enjoy at least until he's a college freshman.

Third, Painting the walls and hanging artwork are two of the easiest ways to underscore a design theme. Most teens are capable of painting. They can also enhance the theme with a wall mural.

Then, we will come to the floor. There are several quick fixes for flooring. A large area rug, a good scrub with a rented carpet cleaning machine, or, use fabric paint to create a pattern, design or scene on the old carpet, will be the good choice.

The last one, finish with furniture. Here teens should think if his existing furniture needs to be replaced, updated or is fine as it is. Maybe he can live with painting or refinishing his old dresser if it means he will have the cash for a new bed. Perhaps her old bed will work with her new theme if she removes the canopy and posters.
