People may tell you that there is no secret to making it big in MLM. It’s just hard work and determination, they say. They are completely wrong, or worse yet, being dishonest with you. There is a secret; they may not even know it.

The use of information as a marketing tool is called educational marketing and it is the answer to succeeding in network marketing. Employing this technique can increase your earnings as much as tenfold – or even more if you are one of those who are using the “technique" of merely trying to put the hard sell to everyone in sight.

Educational marketing works because it positions you as a leader; and as an authority figure in your field. This will attract people to you and win their trust. If your target market sees you as someone who knows what they are talking about, they will be far more receptive to doing business with you.

Great, you say, but how is this done exactly?

You want to show people how to build a network marketing business before they sign on to yours. It is far better to show people that you know your business than to simply tell them that you know how to build business.

Whether or not someone intends to join your business, teach them anyways!

The people you talk to are not really looking for just an opportunity; they want a sure-fire way to success. They want to know that they will, without a doubt be a success in your business if they decide to join with you. By simply imparting solid business advice rather than a sales pitch, you are demonstrating the way to be successful in network marketing. This presents people with a solution instead of an opportunity, which will be a winning formula for you and your business.

People are naturally resistant to the idea of getting involved in something, which will require an investment of money and effort without some sort of assurance that things will work out for them in the long run. This is why you need to get people’s interest by providing free information and training.

When you educate people, you are allaying their fears and befriending them at the same time.

Everyone appreciates good information. Information is the number one reason that people for instance, turn to the Internet.

Think of your primary business as what retailers call an “add-on" sale. These are far easier to make than the initial sale – add on sales are made once you already have the customer’s interest.

By delivering valuable information to people, you win their trust and overcome their natural skepticism. Thus, your opportunity is seen as a much better idea to them than one offered by someone else.

The biggest successes in network marketing have gotten where they are not by selling their product or service, but by selling their knowledge. Information, which tells people how to do it themselves and is relevant to their business success, is what will make sales for you.
