Recent research has revealed that a massive 68% of Britons have not switched their car insurance provider in the last year.
Moreover, one in ten motorist claims to have never switched insurers or have been with the same insurer for over ten years.
These figures are quite surprising, especially when we take into consideration the amount of time Britons spend switching their credit card providers or household utility suppliers.
It would seem that the general consensus for those that have been with the same insurer for at least 3 years, (which was almost half of those asked) was that policy features and type of cover where the things they valued the highest.
It's perhaps, not so surprising to see that for the people that have switched insurer within the last 3 years, 71% placed cost above any other deciding factor.
The well known supermarket that conducted the survey found that on the whole, motorists where more focused on getting insurance that matched their personal requirements, than getting the "cheapest deal".
The possible reason such a large percentage of people choose not to switch their car insurance more often could be because of the perceived 'hassle' involved.
Its important to note though, that with more and more online comparison sites cropping up, it's easier than every to compare and switch car insurance suppliers. This could potentially save motorists hundreds of pounds a year.
They even aim to appeal to those that do not like switching as they take various policy features into consideration, not just the overall cost.
