Using Article Marketing Effectively

By: Jim Johnson

Article marketing seems to be the latest rage and with good reason. It's by far the best free method of promoting your business and increasing your sales and opt in subscribers.

By submitting your articles to article directories, article announcement lists, and ezine publishers, you accomplish several things.

The first is that you begin to establish yourself as an expert in your chosen field. If readers get the impression that you are knowledgeable they are more likely to listen to you.

Second, by attaching a resource box to your article, you are giving the reader a link to your website. If the reader is impressed with your knowledge, they will likely click on your link to see what it is that you are offering.

Most importantly, your article provides a one way non reciprocal link pointing to your website, which can increase search engine ranking. Extra weight is given to one way links by the search engines.

Some people do not feel at ease trying to write their own content and find it difficult putting their thoughts down on paper. Of course some people just don't have anything worth writing about.

That is why private label articles are in such high demand these days. There are several of these services available and more seem to be popping up every day.

Therein lies the problem. Depending on how these articles are used, the results can be good, bad, or downright ugly.

When uses correctly, private label articles can give non writers an advantage over their fellow article marketers. Good articles can help to boost your sales, website traffic and your subscriber lists.

It is quite common for marketers to get lazy when using private label articles. They simply submit the article as is, without making any changes or personalization.

You should at least change the title of the article. Many article directories manually approve article submissions before they get posted. It's highly unlikely that they read ever article in it's entirety.

They get dozens, even hundreds of submissions every day, so it's unlikely that your article will actually be read.

But most directory software will automatically search their database for duplicate titles. If the title of your article matches one in their database, yours will be rejected.

So do yourself a favor and at the very least, change the title. It might also be a good idea to change the wording in the first paragraph.

What you want to avoid at all costs is loading up your article with links so that it looks like nothing more than an ad. If you do this you'll be rejected and if you continue to do it you could get banned.

An article should contain good information that is of use to the reader. If you provide good information their is more of a chance that they will visit your website by way of your link in your resource box.

You may reprint this article in it's entirety as long as it is not changed in any way and as long as the resource box with live link is retained.
