Multiple Ring Tones With Online Phones

By: Ian Ball

Ring Tone of a mobile phone means the sound a cell/mobile phone makes when we get a call. Different people call the ring tones with different names like cell phone ring tones, music ring tones, MP3 ring tones, Hi-Fi ring tones, true tones, mega tones etc to name a few. All these mean the same.

Presently a variety of different types of ring tones are available in the market. Some of them are:

1.Polyphonic Ring tone: Polyphonic Ring tones were introduced in 2002 and they are also called as MIDI ring tones. Off late, most the phones have this facility.

2.MIDI ring tone: This means Musical Instrument Digital Interface. This helps in creating Polyphonic ring tones, i.e. different musical compositions with different sounds. Polyphonic means creating multiple tones at a time by using different instrument sounds.

3.MP3 ring tones: Using Beatniks audio technology with MPEG codes MP3 files can be played as ring tones. A clip from a real song on the cell phone. Nokia 7650 was the fist phone to play MP3 ring tones.

4.Free ring tones: If the cell phone that we have has a ring tone composer then we can compose our own free ring tones on our cell phones.

5.True ring tones: These are also called as Real tones and Nokia first launched them in 2003.These ring tones have extra sounds like singing or various other strange sounds.

6.AMR sound clips: (Adaptive Multi-rate Codec) Using the built in Recorder Application in phone we can record files like Mum's calling or Dad's calling etc.

7.Key press ring tones: These ring tones can be directly entered into the phone. Compared to the composer format, key press format is much easier to compose ring tones. We do not need to understand the special symbols that appear on the composer screen.

8.RTTTL Ring tones: This stands for Ring tone Text Transfer Language. It is a universal format for coding the notes of a ring tone. With special ring tone converter programs RTTTL ring tones can be converted to other ring tone formats and uploaded to the cell phone via data cable or an infrared connection.

9.WAV ring tones: WAV files can be downloaded or copied from PC and can contain anything - voice, music etc.

10. SMS ring tones: Originally Nokia developed SMS to send short text messages between mobiles. They also use this technique to receive and send non-text information like graphics and ring tones. An SMS ring tone can be sent to the phone by SMS.

Thus, these are the different varieties of ring tones available in all types of brands like Nokia, Samsung, L.G, Motorola, Sony-Ericsson, Siemens, Panasonic, and Sharp and all online phones
