Another benefit of green tea has been found to lower blood sugar in animals and that green tea contains theanine, which increases the release of the neurotransmitter GABA, which exerts a calming effect on the brain. In addition green tea increases dopamine that increase the brains sense of pleasure. The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry found that green tea has protective mechanisms for the brain when dealing with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.

The benefits of green tea can be seen at 270-1125 mg's per day. One cup of green tea contains 100mg's so it would be in your best bet to drink at least three cups per day to really get the benefits of green tea.
