How Coffee Has Changed Over The Years |
Making coffee sure has changed over the years. Although it still smells the same, how we brew our coffee isn’t the same as it used to be. Many years ago, coffee was brewed on the top of a wood stove. You could smell it cooking wherever you went in your house. That is also true when you make your coffee in that type of pot on your modern range top. Now you can brew a pot of coffee in less than 5 minutes depending on what coffeemaker you are using. It still tastes great but you can’t smell the coffee throughout the house. If you miss that smell, the old-fashioned coffee pots that you use on the stove top are still available. It takes longer to brew a pot of coffee in one of those pots, but it is worth it. You can still buy electric percolators too. They make great tasting coffee and you do get some of the aroma around your kitchen. There is something I just love about hearing the coffee as it perks. Since there are so many choices now, percolators don’t seem to be used as much as they used to be. There are some coffeemakers that have a place for a thermos instead of a pot for the brewed coffee to go into. Others have a place for an individual cup on one side and a pot on the other side. You can even buy a coffeemaker now that has an attachment for you to grind up the coffee beans yourself. If you prefer, you can purchase a separate appliance that grinds up coffee beans. When you use coffee beans, your coffee will definitely be fresher. Being able to grind your own coffee will save you money in the long run. If you are in the habit of stopping to buy a gourmet cup of coffee, you will appreciate having this option. Not only will this save you money, you will be able to drink a cup of coffee that has been brewed to your specific taste. You will save time also, since you will fill your cup at home. No more having to waste your valuable time standing in line and having to pay $5 for that single cup of coffee. Most grocery stores have many choices of gourmet flavors of coffee beans available. You can pick out your favorite flavor of coffee. Whether you prefer unflavored coffee, hazelnut, French vanilla, Amaretto, or some special blend, you will be amazed at all the choices available. There are many companies that will mail you the coffee of your choice. Most choices are available in decaffeinated coffee also. Whether you want to brew your coffee in an old-fashioned pot on the stove or in a modern coffeemaker, you are sure to be able to get a fantastic aromatic cup of coffee. It doesn’t matter whether you like plain coffee or flavored. There are many brands available at a variety of prices. You can sign up for a plan to have your coffee sent to you once a month if you want to make sure not to run out of your favorite blend. One thing for sure: coffee drinking is here to stay!
