One of the most famous and most elegant of the Porsche sports car series is the Porsche 911. Since its introduction in 1963, the Porsche 911 has gone through some amazing changes. Porsche originally designed the sports car under the number 901, but due to protest from France, the number was changed and in 1964, the Porsche 911 went on sale. It was displayed with a flat 6 engine, and the engine was rear mounted and air-cooled, just as its forerunner the Volkswagen Beetle. It had a type 901 5-speed transmission. However, the European market began to lose its interests in the flat 6 engine, as the demand for the automobiles began to drop.
The United States had become interested in the 4-cylinder engine, due to the rising cost of fuel, and the demand for smaller, more economical engine designs were being sought after. This led to the Porsche 911 having a new engine design, and in 1965 Porsche introduced the Porsche 912, which still used the 356 4 cylinder, 1600cc, 90 hp engine inside a 911 body. The following year Porsche developed the 911S, which increased the engines power to 160 PS, and later increase to 210 PS for installation in the Porsche 904 and the 906 series.
The auto industry suffered a dramatic set-back in 1967 when all convertible car were banned in the Untied States. Porsche soon unleashed the Targa versions, which offered a removable roof panel. In 1968, they offered a removable fixed glass window instead of a plastic one. More changes were made during the year, as the 110 PS was increased to 210 PS, with twin spark cylinder heads, a magnesium crankcase and it had aluminum doors, which made the Porsche 911R , the most lightweight and the rarest (20 were manufactured) race car in the Porsche line.
Porsche increased the overall length of the 911 chassis in 1969 to improve traction and handling. The innovations of 1972 and 1973 brought about the most popular engine of all in the Porsche line, the 2.4-liter engine. The 911T type now used a new K Jetronic continuous fuel injection system. With such new increases in the torque and power, the 911T had to have a much stronger transmission, this brought about an H pattern gearbox that put 1st gear in the upper left corner, and 3rd gear to the upper right corner.
The 911 was turbocharged in 1974. The engine was increased to a 3.0-liter engine, in 1978, while the 260 PS was increased to a 3.3-liter engine with 300 PS, and an intercooler was installed under the rear spoiler. Then in 1981 a five speed gearbox was installed in the 3.3 liter engine of the Cabriolet became very popular and sold over 4 thousand its first year.
Every year brings about new changes and new developments in the Porsche 911 series in order to improve performance and durability, which is what Porsche has devoted its time to. So that people can have the utmost in new types of suspension and other refinements in Porsche 911 series. Consumers and enthusiasts who are in the market for used cars for sale should keep all the achievements the Porsche 911 series have become famous for in mind.

After finding a used car, you can save a lot of money. A new car depreciates quickly in the first few years and after 3 years, it is worth only about 50-70% of the original price. In fact, as soon as you leave the dealership, your new vehicle is suddenly worth $1000-$2000 less. When purchasing a new car you basically are paying for its fresh "new" aroma and warranty. Yet, buying a new car does not always mean the buyer will get perfection. A new car may come with problems associated with poor design or manufacturing defects that may have been already repaired during the warranty coverage period if it's a used car. The same is true for all kinds of recalls and service campaigns. Another advantage of buying a used car is that you could buy a loaded model with all the bells and whistles that you might not be able to afford had you bought a new car.
However, buying a used car is still a bit of a gamble - there is no guarantee that the car is accident-free, has real mileage, and was properly maintained.
There may be some hidden problems like a worn out automatic transmission, or engine problems that may not have been obvious when you test-drove the car. So, next you must ask yourself: Will I save money when buying a used car? How do I eliminate the risk of potential problems and is this actually possible to do?
