The Oreck vacuum company was created in 1963 in New Orleans, Louisiana, by David Oreck. He sought to build a business that designed and made vacuums for the commercial hotel industry. His intent was to make the Oreck vacuum easy for housekeepers to use, but still strong enough to get the job done. The combination of ease and effectiveness, Oreck reasoned would make the product hard to beat and would put it in high demand in the industry.
