Fire is the worst nightmare for the residents of a building. Fire damage can destroy both life and property; it has the capacity to wipe out hundreds of lives within moments. What is most dangerous about a fire tragedy is that it spreads very fast and does not give you any time to react. Industrial fires are more common because of the presence of large amounts of inflammable objects inside it.



Domestic fires are equally dangerous if not brought under control initially. The basic aim should be to try and prevent fire because once it breaks out; it is very difficult to bring it under control. The buildings should follow precautionary measures to prevent the outbreak of a fire and consequently, fire damage. Fire tragedies can be averted with proper precautionary measures and the measures should be implemented properly because without proper implementation of fire prevention measures, fire can possibly spark and cause extensive fire damage.

Public awareness and alertness is a very effective tool against fire. If people are alert about things which can be potent causes of fire, then fire damage and fire tragedies can be averted. The people of the building should be taught about the major causes of fire. They should be well informed about various household articles which are highly inflammable. They should be taught how to identify inflammable and non flammable objects. The major reason for the outbreak of fire in houses is due to gas leak. The cooking gas comes through a pipeline which is made up of metal or rubber.

Metal and rubber can undergo wear and tear easily. If it happens then the leakage of the gas will start off instantly. The gas spreads to other parts of the house and is not visible. Now if anyone lights up a flame then the gas is ignited and the area goes up in flames instantly.

In order to prevent such fire damage and fire disasters the gas pipeline should be free from leakages. Any pipeline can have leaks but the pipelines should be inspected regularly to identify leaks. Such leaks should be repaired immediately and if needed then it should be replaced completely.

Another area from where major fire disasters start is the electrical connection vault. The part of the house where all the mains of the house are located should be inspected regularly by an electrician. He can inspect and identify short circuits and some other problems within the electrical network of the house. Earthing is necessary to prevent any fire from lighting. The switches and other electrical appliances should be replaced time and again and should be repaired time and again.

Fire damage can be easily avoided in buildings by proper planning and implementation of fire fighting techniques. Basic fire fighting tools should be available in the building. In case of any fire please inform the firemen who will come and extinguish the fire.

The storehouse of the building should be free from any inflammable objects otherwise a small spark will trigger another fire disaster.
