DR PAN WOEI JACK

Dr Pan Woei Jack is an Orthopaedic Surgeon subspecializing in Spine surgery. He obtained his basic medical degree from Trinity College, University of Dublin, Ireland in 1994. He had varied experience as a junior doctor in general practice, geriatrics, emergency medicine, general surgery, hand surgery and colorectal surgery before embarking on his love of Orthopaedic Surgery.

He was admitted as a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2002 and in that same year, the Master Of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery from the National University of Singapore. At the pinnacle of his training, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2007.

Dr Pan was trained in Spine Surgery at the internationally renowned Wooridul Spine Hospital in Seoul, South Korea in 2008. There he underwent training in Spine Surgery especially Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery including percutaneous techniques. He maintains close contacts with his Korean counterparts with regular visits to Seoul.

Dr Pan is a mentor to junior doctors in Orthopaedic Training in Singapore and holds a teaching position at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He has also been a faculty at Spine Courses held in Singapore for international attendees.

Dr Pan is a member of the Singapore Medical Association, Singapore Orthopaedic Association, AO Spine and the North American Spine Society.


 

DR LEE HAW CHOU

Dr Lee is a fellowship trained spine surgeon who has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal diseases. He graduated with a bachelor of medicine and surgery from the National University of Singapore in 1993 and proceeded into surgical training obtaining his Fellowship in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 1998. He was accepted in the Singapore Orthopaedic Training program subsequently and exited in 2003 after completing his exams in FRCS Ed(Ortho). He subspecialized in Spinal Surgery having completed various short term fellowships in Spine (Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan & England) and a 12 month stint in the United States (University of Missouri) working with various masters of Spine surgery.

Before establishing his private practice in August 2012, Dr Lee was Senior Consultant and Chief of Spine service at the Orthopaedics Department, Changi General Hospital (CGH), Singapore. He set up the service since 2009; oversaw training of spine surgeons and established a comprehensive patient care program where patients are hand held and led through the surgical process and its recovery with a cross discipline team of doctors, nurses and physiotherapist.

Dr Lee is also passionate about improving healthcare processes and had secured multiple  grants from the Health Ministry’s Healthcare Quality improvement Fund over the years. He has spearheaded process improvements hospital wide in clinical infection, thromboprophylaxis and multi-disciplinary care of the elderly with hip fractures. He won numerous awards for quality improvement and was a recipient of the Singhealth Service Quality Award.

He had an interest in clinical research and has written papers in peer review journals and was also a Principal Investigator in a National Medical Research Council grant. He teaches undergraduates and surgical trainees and has an appointment as Senior Clinical Lecturer from the Medical Faculty of National University of Singapore and Mentor to the Orthopaedic Residency Program, Singhealth.

In addition to spinal surgery, Dr Lee is also practices general orthopaedics. He has championed the Orthogeriatric program in CGH since 2007 and has sat on Ministry of Health, Singapore Hip Fracture Workgroup since 2009. He directed the Osteoporosis Program (OPTIMAL) in CGH since 2008, which does preventive counseling, treatment and lifestyle advice for the elderly.

Personally, Dr Lee believes in personal engagement of the patient in the diagnostic and treatment process of his illness. Best practices and medical evidence are discussed and the treatment options should be co-owned with the patient. He strives to provide his best service to help his patients in a swift recovery from illness.
