Company History

Who is our Director?

Our root of the story began in Hunenbery, Kanton Zug in Switzerland. The home of a man whose profound interest in sugar modeling, lead him to be one of the most recognized Pastry Chef in our heartland Singapore. Swissbake Managing Director and Founder, Mr Xavier Baumgartner has not look back on his astonishing career, span over 3 regions, 6 countries in 40 years, and where he had even baked for the President of Philippines and many other celebrities.

Throughout his career, he has won various medals in pastry competition, which 2 was the most memorable gold medals for him. The Culinary Art Exhibition in Berne and Zurich, in Switzerland when he just mastered the skills of sugar modeling and the 1984 IKA HOGA (International Culinary Olympics) in Frankfurt, Germany. In Singapore, he made a last minute entry with a team consisting of 7 chefs, competing against over 10,000 participants from 28 countries. The result, through 'Hard work, Dedication, Skills and a dash of Creativity" he managed to score over 95% of the total maximum points in the pastry category and winning the hearts of every judges. He was awarded the ultimate recognition for Singapore and his home country Switzerland. Apart from winning the gold medal, to addition of the amazing teamwork, all the other 7 chefs won a gold medal each, bringing the gold medal tally to a astonishing 8!
 

Our tiny country Singapore has never left the heart of this Pastry Chef, and fate brings him back to our heartland in the early 90's, where he was invited to join as Managing Director and Partnership of a retail chain store XAVIS. Being ambitious and looking beyond the boundaries, he continued to venture in Singapore and set up Fine Swiss Foods Pte Ltd. Later, Fine Swiss Foods caught the eye of one of a MNC Hiestand Asia Pacific (frozen dough business) and established a chain of retail shops in Singapore . A huge potential awaits and needless to say, the humble Pastry Chef agreed to the brought over and decided to work for them. After a couple of years, and still energetic as ever, Mr Xavier Baumgartner felt that more can be accomplished in life on his own. With this still clinging on his mind, he eventually set up Swiss-Bake Pte Ltd, to produce fine European quality breads, confectionery, savories, desserts and customized food products for the whole sales market in Singapore and for his own retail shops Swissbake (formerly known as Xavier Fine Swiss Confectionery) and made as brand name. Mr. Xavier Baumgartner has come a long way to bring his life's creation of sweetness for Singapore.
