As a fairly new town being developed, Sengkang residents can now rest their minds on where to shop, especially since they live so far away from the town area of Singapore. They can shop to their heart’s content within their estate area in this big and diverse shopping mall, Compass Point.

Opened since year 2002, this is the first mall being established on the North-East MRT Line and around the Sengkang bus interchange. It is also just a short drive from the Tampines Expressway. Such convenience warrants no excuse for the North-East inhabitants not dropping by.

With over 125 shops on five floors, you will be spoilt for choice. Ladies who love to pamper themselves with makeovers will not be disappointed. Hair salons and beauty stores like Missha, John Little, Metro and Fashion Lab are available for your pick and fancy. You can choose from 7 jewellery stores - Citigems, Goldheart, Lee Hwa, Poh Heng, Taka and Tianpo! Key tenants include Cold Storage, Courts, Metro, National Library Board and Kopitiam Food Court.

Compass Point is considered to be Singapore’s first thematic suburban shopping centre based on the motif of learning. One thing I must highlight about this shopping centre is the information boards and the mosaic world maps on geography and culture that they have. Each floor of the shopping centre is named after the world’s continents – Oceania, Asia, Europe, The Americas and Africa. Unfortunately, the world maps and information are not updated as often and are found repeated on several levels.

Compass Point is also known for its fast food fiestas. Fast food outlets such as Mos Burger, Burger King, McDonalds and KFC attracts a good number of students schooling from the five and more schools nearby.  There’s also Swensen’s, the Soup Restaurant which never fails to draw queues especially during the weekends and Sakura Thai restaurant.
