Execs Try Out Used Vehicles

By: Tracy Dawson

We all do have that thought that those chief executive officers, those head honchos, and all those other high ranking people at companies do not really know what it is to be an ordinary person. And we all do know that when these people do things, they simply do get the best of everything there is available.

However, it does seem like the times are surely changing. You see, one of the latest updates from the Chrysler Group of automobile manufacturers is that its chief executive officer, Tom LaSorda, has decided that he would be sending out quite a huge number of his top ranking executives to be among the common folk and drive around used vehicles. Many experts in the industry have been saying that this might be a good move for the brand and company. After all, people would surely be able to see that even the high ranking people would be able to get a feel of the ordinary stuff that common folk do use and experience everyday of their lives. Plus, the manufacturer would also be able to learn about what the common folk are clamoring for straight right out of their top executives who would be taking the rides themselves.

So how many top executives from Chrysler Group are going go about the country driving used cars? Well, LaSorda does say that he is planning on sending out two hundred and fifty top executives of the company to do such an assignment. He even does further disclose that he is doing such an act so as to be able to learn about any issues on reliability and the like that the company's customers face through years of ownership of various vehicles.

What will happen is that these chosen two hundred and fifty executives would be leaving their top of the line vehicles at the company for two periods wherein each period equals to ten days. And they would then be handed a new set of keys, but this time, the keys would be those that would be used to start up used vehicles. LaSorda does say that the list of used vehicles that his top honchos would be driving around include Jeep Grand Cherokees, Dodge Caravans, Dodge Ram pickup trucks, the minivans of Chrysler Town and Country, and some Chrysler Pacificas. And it does seem like it would not only be those head executives who would be immersing in the mentioned activity. You see, some eyewitnesses have said that they have certainly seen CEO LaSorda driving around in an old and used Jeep Grand Cherokee. Good one, LaSorda.

On this, Steve Walukas says, "Our CEO, Tom LaSorda, has always been pushing us to become more customer focused: to eat, sleep, walk and talk like an average customer. In our positions we're pretty fortunate that we typically get to drive new cars. I know in my own situation, my friends, neighbors and relatives say, 'You wouldn't know what it's like to drive a car with a lot of miles on it.' This is a true way to understand." Walukas is the current vice president for the company's corporate quality department.
