General Motors is recently focusing on making Saturn a strong contender in the auto market. For years, it looks like Saturn has been neglected by its parent company. Recently, the lineup of the Saturn brand has been injected with European styling which came from Opel. The Saturn Vue is one of Saturn's current car models which sports a European styling and performance as it is a rebadged Opel Antara. The Vue is a crossover utility vehicle and clearly resembles the German made Opel Antara. These vehicles shares GM's Theta platform.
For the United States auto market, General Motors decided that the Vue will not have much difference as compared to its European sibling. The Vue is currently the best-selling auto model from Saturn which shows how its European styling and performance increased its popularity in the market.
For the 2008 model year, the Vue still resembles the Antara's exterior and interior design cues as well as its performance. One strong selling point of this vehicle is the fact that it is priced lower than its competition but it offers European luxury and performance. It is known that American car buyers look for vehicles with a spacious interior and has versatility - both of which are offered by the Saturn Vue. It is available in four trim levels which are the XE, XR, Red Line and the Green Line or the hybrid version of the crossover vehicle. Three engines are offered for the Vue - the first one is a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine which is capable of producing 164 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque. The second engine choice is a 3.5-liter V6 engine which is rated to produce 222 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque. A 3.6-liter V6 is the third engine choice and is the most powerful of the three at 250 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque.
Aside from the difference in engine, the different trim levels of the crossover all use reliable . As far as fuel economy is concerned, the 2.4-liter engine is rated to have a gas mileage rating of 19 miles per gallon on city driving and 26 miles per gallon on highway driving according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Meanwhile, the 3.5-liter V6 on all-wheel drive configuration can run for 15 miles on city streets on a gallon. On highway driving, the V6 can travel 22 miles on a single gallon of gasoline. The larger 3.6-liter V6 in all-wheel drive configuration can cover 16 miles on a single gallon of fuel in city driving and 22 miles on highway cruising.
