Ford Motor Company finally took the covers off four of its new ethanol-propelled hybrids to the Missouri as well as its Kansas City Power & Light located at the Ford's Kansas City Plant where both the Escape and Mercury Mariner hybrid vehicles are produced. The new car will help Ford to improve its technology towards building car with alternative fuels.

Among the Ford models, the E85 Escape Hybrid is the first Ford model to use the combination of 85% ethanol gas and 15% petroleum gasoline. There are only 20 Ford E85 Escape Hybrids produced and delivered to its selected customers on the six states.

Nancy Gioia, director of the Sustainable Mobility Technology of Ford Motor Company said, "As a leader in both hybrid vehicles and in vehicles capable of operating on ethanol-based fuels, Ford is the ideal company to bring both technologies together for the first time. This innovative research represents one of many projects we have at Ford to address our customers desire for a fuel efficient product that meet all of their functional needs, while working on reducing our nation's dependence on oil imports and helping to address global climate change."

According to the news by auotchannel.com, the new hybrid car will be used by its field design groups in order to work in the company's service territory, as well as will be used in urban setting to test that the city can also be a good ride for these areas.

"Great Plains Energy's environmental strategy is aggressively pursuing the use of renewables. We are pleased to be among the first to take advantage of the flexibility of a hybrid vehicle that uses E85 fuel. Our current biofuel program has already offset approximately 20 percent of our gasoline usage and these Ford vehicles will advance our long-term commitment to a diversified fleet," said Michael Chesser the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Great Plains Energy.

Governor Matt Blunt also commented, "My administration has and will continue to strongly encourage the use of these environmentally-friendly technologies. The use of renewable fuels improves our environment and the air we breathe. With old-fashioned American ingenuity, like that displayed by the Ford Motor Company, we can become more energy independent. Our state is doing our part to look for alternative fuels to help lessen America's dependence on foreign oil. The more clean-burning, renewable fuel Missouri produces and uses, the better off we will all be in the long-term."

The new car from Ford produces lowered amount of greenhouse gas emission amounting to 25% fewer compared to the previous Escape Hybrid. It also runs on a renewable fuel to reduce the dependency towards imported oils.

It may not have the , but the car is filled with more Ford parts that enhance the function of its powertrain parts. This new car can cut the 3.6 billion gallons of gasoline consumed every to half. Ford also promises to build more cars that use this type of fuel in 2012.
