There are so many different sports for teens to chose from, teens want sports that get them involved and they can learn from. Most areas will have many different sports to choose from, some will even be at the high school that the teen attends. Some of the most popular sports that teens want to play are football, basketball, soccer, and baseball. If your teen is going to play one of these sports at their high school then there will Freshman and Varsity teams.
Depending if the teen is a Freshman through a Senior. All of these sports practice times take place after school and sometimes there will even be practicing during the summer months prior to school starting. If joining a league outside of your high school, then the best place to check to find out what leagues are available and when their season is, is down at your local community center. They will have the times, the costs it may be to sign your teen up, and for how long that sport will be going on.
These leagues usually meet after school also and/or on weekends. There are many other sports that both the high school and community centers offers. Other leagues like bowling, swimming, track, golf, bmx biking, and mountain biking. Don't forget that cheer leading, gymnastics, dance, and karate are all available too. Some will be at the high school while others will only be offered through the community center or private instruction. A lot of teen girls will want to do some of the aforementioned sports and definitely should get involved. These are great sports that teens want to play and would have a great time being involved in. The different leagues will of course have varying costs associated with them for their uniforms, equipment, rental time, and any other food costs that might be incurred. Checking to make sure of these before sign up would be wise, some of the above sports will cost much more than others.
Especially depending if they're offered through the school versus the community center. All of these sports offer teens a time to be with their friends and learn something new. One of the benefits of playing at the high school is that the teens would have a better chance of playing since most schools try to get all teens involved in the sports and give them all a chance. Unlike, through a community center where only the best kids will be allowed to play or whoever parent contributes more money.
Either way though, getting a teen who wants to be involved in sports ready and signed up will still be a great experience.
