o        The Sunday Open Market

Also known as "Pasar Minggu", the Sunday Open Market is ideally located within Kuching, near the well-known Satok Suspension Bridge. It starts its activities as early as Saturday afternoon. You’ll find a jungle heap of every thing that you can think of, and find your way through the market filled with hard working Bidayuh women folks from the outskirt longhouses.

You can find a variety of tropical fruits and a variety of jungle vegetables seldom seen at any wet market. Sago worms, also find their way to the Sunday Market. It is a specialty for some locals who believe in eating them raw for good health and vitality.

 

o        Kuching Waterfront
Kuching’s waterfront is about 1 km long and is also known as the
People Place.

It is situated at the Main Bazaar, along the
Sarawak River in Kuching. It has many facilities such as restaurants, handicraft shops, entertainment hall, and the dancing water fountains.

 

o        Santubong Fishing Village

Santubong Fishing Village offers you an opportunity to share the arts and crafts, games, food, and music of the seven major cultures of Sarawak.

You will also get to see the performances of multicultural dances and lots of bamboo (bamboo musical instruments, bamboo carvings and even a bamboo bridge). Here you will get acquainted into the world of long houses, with their ethnic rums and gongs. In this village also, you get to learn the use of the blowpipe and to see the women on their delicate and intricate beadwork.

 

o        Jong's Crocodile Farm

A 30-minute drive from Kuching, Jong’s Crocodile Farm is the place if you think you are “Crocodile Dundee" or if you fancy seeing a crocodile up close and personal. Jong's Farm is nestled among tropical fruit trees and greenery and is the haunt of over 1,000 crocs. In addition to these fearsome reptiles, visitors can view monkeys, bearcats, barking deer, pheasants, leopard cat, monitor lizards and the odd python or two. Some leather goods and a small assortment of bric-a-brac is available for sale.
