I have been asked by visitors to www.r8s.us if it was the internet that interested me in travel, or travel that interested me in the internet. The answer is...YES...But I must admit, I was traveling before the internet evolved from groups of scientists linking their computers together into what we know today as the internet. (Some of you as old as me or older rmember AARPA, GOPHER, ETC.) Just as seeing different towns made me want to see different staes, which made me want to see different countries.
Seeing computers made me want to see bigger computers, which made me want to see all of the linked computers, and the technology involved. Basic programming led to c+, which led to mosaic, which led to html, which led to php, etc... So now, having navigated through a hundred countries and a million websites (not exact counts) I realize that travel is not complete without the internet, and the internet is not complete without travel. They support and complement each other. In my next article, I will expand on this. All of my future articles will focus on travel and the internet and my experiences and adventures in both.
