Belem a wonderful city. Belem is the city with a population of about 2 million which is often called the city of mango trees . Belem is located not far from the mouth of the Amazon and is famous for its great choice of tropical fruits, like mango and star fruit, which can be bought for cheap. But, because the city is located rather a long distance from other large Brazilian centers, it looks like a 200-year old European city. Founded in the 16th century, Belem is still filled with historical stunning architecture and old buildings (most of them are ruined).
Belem has some attractions like Ver-o-Peso market (the countrys largest), Nazareth Basilica, Forte do Castelo and others. Also visit the city suburbs for excellent beaches, such as Outeiro and Mosqueiro.
