Our Leeds Tourism Guide

Leeds is widely regarded as the capital of the North, and has a sizeable population of almost 450 000. As well as it's many residents, Leeds also attracts numerous business travellers & tourists. Leeds appeals to many people because of its numerous places of interest, playful nightlife & fabulous opportunities for shopping.

From gorgeous buildings to historic sites, Leeds has some beautiful things to see & do. One of the city's finest attractions is Kirkstall Abbey, which is a historic abbey in the outskirts of the city. It is widely regarded as one of Britain’s most complete examples of a medieval Cistercian abbey. Building began on the abbey in 1152 & it took over seventy-five years to complete. The historic abbey is now a Grade 1 listed structure. In addition to Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds has many other things to do, including the historic Kirkgate Market.

A City for Shoppers

From the cutting edge fashion found in the Victoria Quarter to the excellent designer stores of The Light, Leeds gives visitors many wonderful shopping opportunities. Whether you are looking for a brand new outfit or even an out of this world birthday gift, you are sure to find it in this lively city.

Other Things to Do

If you'd prefer to spend your time doing more arty activities, you'll be happy to know that Leeds boasts 9 fantastic museums and galleries. These include the Royal Armouries Museum and the fabulous Leeds City Art Gallery, which means that you are sure to find one that you like.

If the quick pace of Leeds' city life gets to be too much for you, you'll be happy to discover that the city boasts some beautiful green spaces, which include the award winning Millennium Gardens. These beautiful gardens were constructed for ?12 million to mark the year 2000. The striking gardens won a medal at the 2004 Chelsea Flower Show.

Finally, any tourist passing by Leeds should ensure that they try its nightlife. With wonderful restaurants, VIP bars and amazing clubs, you will have a truly unforgettable night there. Needless to say Leeds has a big gay community, too. You will find some fantastic gay venues dotted around the Calls area, including Blayde's.

After the clubs close, why not head to one of the city's luxury hotels for a fantastic rest? There are some great hotels in the city, which include the Leeds Hilton, so you will be spoilt for choice. The best thing is, if you pick a hotel with a free breakfast - you will be able to eat away your hangover, too.
