What are the Best Reward Credit Cards Out There?

By: Chace Billings

It's hard to believe that just a couple decade ago, credit card rewards were a rare find. Today nearly every card out there offers some sort of financial incentive for you to use it. The big four players; American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover, all feature numerous cards which reward you for their use. With there literally being several hundred reward credit
cards on the market, how do you know which one is best?

The first recommendation we have is visit acredit card forum to read reviews from fellow consumers. On a message board you can ask and answer real questions about credit cards instead of just relying on advertisements and commercials to tell you. The first question one should ask is what are the best reward credit cards out there for my type of spending? Start by asking these three simple questions.

1) What type of spending would you like to get the most rewards on? With gas average four dollars a gallon, would you like gas rebate credit cards or perhaps you'd rather get cash back at home improvement stores, restaurants, groceries, or any of the other dozens of categories for spending out there.

2) Are you willing to pay an annual fee? Today most credit cards do not charge annual fees, however some still do, such as American Express and Diners Club among others. However if you're a frequent traveler or a big spender, sometimes the annual fee is worth it. For example Diners Club offers free companion airfare to select European destinations and American Express Platinum and Centurion cards offer a bundle of benefits in addition to rewards, such as travel discounts, insurance on purchase, automatic extended warranties, and even personal concierge service.

3) If you want frequent flyer miles, are airline reward credit cards really the best way to go? Often airline rewards calculate out to be 1% on average for your spending. You may be better off simply getting a credit card that pays you cash back and then buying the plane tickets yourself. Let me give you an example - there's currently a card out on the market which gives a 5% rebate on gas purchases, office supplies, and wireless services. It's called the American Express Simply Cash Business Card. If you do a lot of spending in these categories, you may be better off using a card such as this so you can earn higher rewards on these purchases.

Having a clear answer in your head to these three questions should get you on the right road to picking out a credit card.
