The MDA Vario mobile phone falls between a dedicated business mobile phone and a feature packed consumer phone. The keyboard has a full set of querty keys and a couple of other controls for easy access to some Windows Mobile features. The MDA Vario is a quad-band 3G handset with a front-facing camera for making video calls.
When you switch on the built-in 2 megapixel camera, the screen turns into a viewfinder in the usual way. There are icons around the screen which give easy access to settings and options. The screen is standard with a 240x320 pixel resolution in 65,000 colours.
The small front mounted lens is being restricted to use during video calling. The main photography workload is handled by the 2 megapixel camera on the back. You can shoot stills up to 1600 x 1200 pixels. The display of the mobile phone is clear and easy to read in almost all situations except bright sunlight. The phone has the benefits of a PDA and phone in one handy package all together with a full internet explorer, email, messenger, word, excel, powerpoint, PDF and windows media player.
