Officemax Customer Complaints

By: James Kara Murat

OfficeMax is undoubtedly the third largest seller of office supplies in the entire USA, but it receives enormous amounts of complaints from a large number of customers. Typical complaints are about the faulty products, high prices, inefficient customer service and slow delivery of the orders. An excellent example is that of a review written by Todd Parker which reads "But, the service kind of sucks, they are usually rude and treat their customers like dirt. I only go here if I have to."

Some people have written even more bitter reviews like that of a person nick named as hateOfficeMax which reads "They should be paying me for the amount of time I spent trying to buy a computer online with the reference code from a circular. If you could give them a negative 100 rating it still wouldn't be bad enough." The inefficiency of the online shopping system at OfficeMax particularly annoys the customers. A particular reviewer narrates an incident in his testimonial when he dropped two of his ink cartridges at OfficeMax and placed an order to refill cartridges. He was told that the task would require a maximum of 24 hours. A number of days went by, but the cartridges weren't returned. At last, he picked his cartridges and got them filled from another store.

Yet, another customer writes in his review that he bought a microphone from OfficeMax, which turned out to be defective. Despite the lack of cooperation from the staff, he got it exchanged with great difficulty. To his disappointment, the second one also proved to be faulty. Not only that, it also produced a defect in the microphone jack of his laptop. Hence, in his review, the customer advises others not to purchase any product from OfficeMax.

Many reviews express that the customers are utterly disappointed by the delivery service. Sometimes an order is not delivered at all, and often unwanted items are delivered instead of those ordered. If a faulty product is delivered, it takes unlimited duration of time to be repaired. Meanwhile, the customers are made to run around in order to get the item repaired.

The insurance provided by OfficeMax is considered by many customers as fraudulent, as the insurance company continues to modify the kinds of coverage it provides in order to find a way out not to pay the deserving. A particular coverage can be denied on the excuse of change of policy. The clerks at OfficeMax are accused of misbehavior and discourtesy. A few customers have mentioned in their reviews that the clerks are rude to the extent of yelling at people. In short, there are a lot of critical reviews and complaints against OfficeMax because of the negligence of its staff, quality of the products and poor customer service.
