Headaches are just as painful regardless as to whether you are a man or a woman who suffers from them. For the purposes of this article, headache causes and triggers refer to the same thing; that is, the factor that is causing you to have a pounding headache.

In order to properly track your headaches you should maintain a headache diary. This is a way in which you can keep track of when your headaches occur, how bad they are and what the accompanying symptoms are. Herein you will be able to learn what causes your headaches so that you can share this information with your child. Some things to consider are the activities that you were doing before the headache occurred, what you ate and drank, how you slept, any different products that you used, and any medications that you took. All of these things will be very helpful in figuring out what your headache causes are.

There are some medications that are known as headache causes. Unfortunately your doctors may advise you that you cannot stop these medications. Some medications that are known as headache causes include those that are used for high blood pressure, seizures and ulcers. Medications that are used to treat health problems can also cause headaches sometimes. Birth control pills can also be headache causes. This is because they are hormone adjusters.

Not eating enough food can also be result in headaches. A study looked at over 2,000 people and found that women who went longer than 5 hours without eating were quite likely to get a headache. It is also possible for women to get headaches whenever they go for 13 or more hours without food. Unfortunately researchers could not find an exact cause for this. Most likely it has to do with a drop in blood sugar or dehydration though.

Too much or too little sleep can also trigger headaches. This is why it is important to try to keep a sleep routine. Make sure that you have good sleep hygiene, meaning that you go to bed and wake up at the same time each day so that you get the same amount of sleep each day.

There are a lot of different headache causes. In order to eliminate your headaches you will need to first figure out what is actually causing them in the first place. In many ways, prevention is better than cure.
