Bread Mold And How To Recognize It |
Mold that grows on your bread, which is commonly find on the surface of the bread, is a fungus that takes the nutrients out of the bread and damages it. It smells bad and it gives it a very bad taste to it as well. This mold is kind of like the mold on plants and dead animals when they start to decay. The mold on the surface of the bread looks like a wind blown spore, and it is caused by moisture of the air getting in the bread bag. The mold that gets on the bread is gray or green, and it could be in spots or in one big spot. You have to keep your bread dry by putting it in a dry area or in a dry container, whichever one you would like to put it in. There are Penicillium, Monascus, Rhizopus, Aspergillus, and Fusarium in some common bread molds. Penicillium and Aspergillus are similar, and you can see them with your naked eyes. They are both different if you look at them under a microscopic lens; that is the only way you can see the difference in them. Aspergillus mold are fine hairs that are like large balloons that have spores in them. The bread mold has a similar lifestyle that feeds on the surface of the bread. The spores of mold that can be seen under a microscope come from the air and when the bread spoils, that is how mold grows. It comes from the moisture that is in the air. There is another way that you can keep air and moisture from getting on the bread: you can put it in an airtight vacuum sealed bag to keep it out and it will stay good for a long time. You can even put it in a freezer if you want to. You can get it out anytime you want to and what you have to do is put a couple of slices in the toaster and then eat it. Mold is always surrounding you in the house even when you are outside. You can't get rid of it because it is a part of life, and we have to live with it. You have to eat the bread in maybe a day or two because it only lasts for a couple of day after you buy it, so try to get it eaten by those two days so mold will not grow on it.
