Relax with a Coffee Break |
Everyone needs to take a break. It's just human nature. That's why virtually every job allows a typical allotment of ten to twenty minutes to take a coffee break. Most everyone who works for a living sees coffee breaks as vital parts of employment. After a few hours on the job, it's a little ray of sunshine and something to look forward to. We're raised from childhood to understand the concept of a coffee break. After all, school recess is no more than a preadolescent form of the coffee break. Even as children, we're taught that everyone needs to have a little time to rest and relax. For children, recess is the one time in the entire day when they can play and be themselves without pressure from their teachers. Why are coffee breaks so important? Even if you don't drink coffee, you probably understand that a coffee break means so much more than a cup of that powerful brew. Coffee breaks are a time to kick back, relax, cool down a little, and recharge your energy for what's coming next. These breaks are a metaphor for life: coffee breaks are there because we are, in essence, only human. We can't work all day without any rest. Even God rested after creating the world. Even machines, need their own "coffee breaks" right? Otherwise, they cannot work properly. If there's one thing that everything in this world has in common, it's the need for a "coffee break." At those times when you're feeling blue and tired of your job, you're not really thinking about retirement, are you? You're looking forward to that next coffee break. You think about chatting with your co-workers, enjoying a stimulating coffee, having a snack and just taking a few moments to think and plan ahead. Of course, we all have futures and long-term plans to look forward to, but we also need something in the meantime that's more immediate to keep us going until those plans come to fruition. A coffee break is much like sleep: You look forward to it, but you know you can't have it forever. If you slept forever, you'd have no chance to live your life. So, you eagerly anticipate that little rest on your coffee break but, knowing that you can't live if you don't earn money, you don't plan on taking a coffee break for the rest of your life. In today's society, time is very important. However, even the most time-conscious person will agree that a coffee break is a necessary component of productivity. A coffee break is a time to refresh yourself, to assess your work and to decide your pace. It is a time to reflect on what you've done and think about what to do next. On a coffee break, you can clear your thoughts without the pressure of the clock. Socializing at work should be encouraged. After all, how many times have you worked in an environment for several years, yet knew very little about the person sitting next to you? Lunch breaks don't hold the same motivation. Lunch is a necessity, because we need to eat. These midday breaks are times to recharge our overused batteries, but they just don't offer the same sort of comfort. This type of comfort is what makes a coffee break so special. People are encouraged to gather together, interact and connect. Treat yourself to a coffee break, and get the rest that you deserve. Your work can wait for a few more minutes.
