You must have seen many people wearing those classic handmade, vintage scarfs. Those people not only wear those scarfs but also create them. Knitting scarf is an easy work and everyone can do it with little basic knowledge. But to have a unique design you will require lots of imagination and creativity. So, how to knit a scarf:
At the first step, get some basic things you will require like, yarn, few small needles, etc. You can buy two three different types of yarn and try to give a difference to the scarf. In second step put the ball of yarn on ground and hold needle in the hand. Join two strands of yarn together. For now onwards you have to think that the two strands of yarn are same. This gives more thickness to the scarf and by using different colors you can create a unique design in the scarf.
Now crate slipknot and place them in the middle of one of the needle. Pull it slowly. In same way make few more slipknots around the needle. You should always pull the knots slowly. Now hold the needle in your one hand and push all the knots to the other side and insert the other needle from bottom to top. This will bring the needle in front of the knot. Now, the needles will cross with each other. Now take the string and round it anti clockwise around the bottom needle again and again.
By doing this you will get a stitch on the other needle. Do this repeatedly. After doing it few times you will find your first row of the scarf. Now again place the needle back in your left hand and do the same process again and again unless you don’t get the length of your scarf.
After you finish all the stitches then knit two stitches. Bring the bottom stitch over to the top and repeat this again until the entire loop ends. Now, you have your first scarf ready in front of you.
Besides the above mentioned trick, there are also many other ways you can knit a scarf. You can use your own imagination and design to add extra features and beauty to the scarf. Knitting may seem to be a huge task sometime but once you learn the basic technique almost any person can knit the scarf. It is not hard to learn the way of knitting scarf, you only require some basic knowledge and you can go off your way knitting beautiful design.
How To Knit A Scarf
Knitting is my very favorite hobby of all time! There is nothing I love more than to poke around in my favorite LYS amidst all the soft and colorful yarn, and finger the sample projects that set my brain alight. So many things to knit; sweaters, dog coats, placemats, dishcloths, curtains, coverlets, shrugs, skirts, socks, shawls, purses, jewelry, even belts, and "food". So little time.
One of my all-time favorite projects, is of course, a scarf. And I can give you not just one reason why you, too, should knit a scarf, but I can give you five reasons to knit a scarf!
So, here they are:
1) Scarves are easy. Whether you are a beginner knitter, or have been knitting for two lifetimes, nothing quite fills the bill like knitting a scarf. Find a captivating simple pattern, then combine with a spectacular color, and I guarantee you will have a hit on your hands.
2) Scarves never need to be worked according to a gauge. You know, that irksome bit of information you see when knitting a sweater or afghan or backpack. When working on pieces of clothing "to fit", gauge can be your best friend, but in the case of a scarf, say "skip it".
3) Scarves can be knitted in a simple garter stitch, or can be incredibly complicated. It really is up to you. Then there are color changes, or not; length and width, and so much versatality to go around, that if you knit nothing but scarves your entire knitting career, you would never knit the same one twice!
4) Scarves make the best gifts. Especially when the receiver knows you knit this one yourself. Everyone appreciates the time you take, time you could be devoting to yourself or your own needs; and you chose to think of them! It's a win-win situation.
5) Lastly, remember this. Everyone needs a scarf. For those of us who see snow every year, nothing could be more welcome against your face to hold back the icy winds. But, if you reside in Tahiti or Key West, a scarf can be an alluring accessory. It hardly matters what kind of yarn you use for your scarf; mohair, wool, a light-weight or cotton yarn works just as well as worsted weight or sport. Knit in a frosty turqoise or mango or limelight color, they can be the answer to your wardrobe dreams!
So, there you have it; my five best reasons to knit a scarf. Never let it be said, I didn't tell you so!
