The basic plot behind the new game is still based on the same characters as the original. The Locust are still the enemy and they are still trying to destroy the humans. They have developed some dangerous new technology that has the potential to put the humans in grave danger. They've developed the ability to make emergence holes the size of cities. When they come up from underground an entire area of people can be destroyed. The COG Delta Squad, led my Marcus Fenix decide to take on the Locust by going to them. In some of the trailers for the game, you actually get to witness one of the battles between the humans and the Locust.

The new game features a lot of cool features that gamers will definitely enjoy. One of the most prominent features of the game is the upgraded multiplayer mode. This will actually enable up to ten people to play the game at once. There are several new multiplayer modes that will be featured including: "Guardian," "Wingman", and "Submission." In these new multiplayer games, the features that made the classics games popular will come through in the new games. Players will be able to do a lot more with the new game than they ever dreamed about in the old version. Online play will be available with a matchmaking system similar to that of the Halo franchise. In addition to several different multiplayer modes, you can also get several different achievements such as 500 kills or 500 headshots. This makes the game have a continuous feel over the many games that you'll play.
