Best of American and International learning
Stamford American International School is founded on a mission of providing the best teaching and learning experiences for each individual. Stamford offers students from Nursery (2 years old) through High School a rigorous academic program featuring the IB framework enhanced by American academic standards. Stamford is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) as an IB World School and can offer any of its three academic programs: the Primary Years Program (PYP), the Middle Years Program (MYP), or the Diploma Program.
Strength in Languages
To help foster a wider geographic and cultural perspective and broaden cross-cultural communication, students receive daily Mandarin or Spanish lessons beginning at age 2. Daily reinforcement helps our students to develop fluency in their chosen language.
Technology
At Stamford we focus on building our students' experience and comfort with integrated technology with interactive Promethean boards in every classroom, a 1-to-1 iPad Program for students from Kindergarten 2 through Grade 5 and a 1-to-1 MacBook Program for our Middle School and High School students.
Internationalism
Our name suggests internationalism...a visit confirms it. Not just in the curriculum or the focus on languages, but the wide range of nationalities at Stamford. While about 35% of our students are from North America, our student body also represents over 60 different nationalities, a diversity we celebrate through a warm and welcoming culture that embraces new students and families.
Low student-to-teacher Ratio
As Stamford continues to grow, class sizes will be a priority with teacher/student maximum ratio of approximately 11:1 in Kindergarten 2 and above. An even lower maximum ratio is maintained in Nursery (5:1), Pre-Kindergarten (6:1), and Kindergarten 1 (11:1).
